The first training day of Royal Mission
Last Saturday the time had come. The first training day for teenage and youth workers that we organized ourselves as Royal Mission. One hundred youth workers from the wider Rotterdam region had registered via the website. With 10 people from the Royal Mission team we already went to the Kom & Zie Rotterdam building on Friday to start construction. It was a nice evening and a cold night!
Through the snow, cold and slippery conditions, 75 youth workers eventually passed the registration table. The catering was fantastically arranged by Leo and Suzette van der Veeken, so the welcome was warm and cozy. The morning was filled with 4 training blocks, which flew by at a rapid pace. Clear and challenging education, alternated with short testimonials from RM team members and concrete processing assignments. Amid all the content, there was a lot of laughter and the atmosphere was always open and eager to learn. What a party! During the lunch break, a free lunch was offered with 2 types of soup, sandwiches and frikandel and croquette sandwiches. Delicious and well cared for. The RM team had spread out over the various tables and there was a lot of talking, processing and asking questions. After this wonderful break, we continued at a slightly slower pace in the next lesson block about ‘the influences on youth work’. Karin Koornstra told from her own experience how important it is to collaborate with ‘children’s work’. Her advice to all single youth workers was to ‘start dating a child worker’. That saves a lot of meetings afterwards 😉 After all the content, we took time to pray for everyone personally and to pass on encouragement from God. Many youth workers walked away with tearful eyes after prayers. Touched by the love of God and the encouraging words. Thus ended a wonderful day with much content and true blessing. And for dessert, it was announced how much the sacrifice for the Royal Mission ministry had yielded: ‘more than a thousand euros’. We are extremely blessed. The day was free, we were offered the building and a sponsor paid for all the catering. The sacrifice was not for expenses (because the day was truly free), but an investment in the ministry of Royal Mission. If you missed it and would also like to experience this training day (with your team), you will get a second chance. The next free training day is on February 6 in Veenendaal.
