As early as my teenage years, I had a desire to go to Bible college. Perhaps because my parents attended such a training year in England for 2 years and they had set up such a school at our home. The result was that I grew up among enthusiastic young people, who wanted to learn a lot and were ready for a full life with God. I inherited my passion for education and practice from home. Students were taught and had to work to gain experience. Life Changing Training! And when I ask my father what he would have liked to do more in his life, his answer is invariably: ‘I would have liked to teach more, because that is what bears the most fruit.’
It is beautiful to speak in front of people and in churches. Especially when the stage gets bigger and the numbers increase. But we all know that those sermons in themselves do not change us. Sermons create listeners, not doers and disciples. Much more is needed for true spiritual growth. I actually come to 3 core elements in the process of discipleship… 1. Education Good, solid and stimulating education about theology and skills development2. Assignments Practice with theory. Both in a Christian setting and beyond.3. Support One or more people who support and coach you in your development. If 1 of these 3 is missing, it is not discipleship. That is why these 3 ingredients form the basis of Royal Mission School in Drachten, where 28 students currently participate. If you want to know more about that, it’s coming upTuesday 4 June is a walk-along day . From September we will start a part-time version of Royal Mission School. In Drachten and in Veenendaal for all ages. We also want to give the 3 core elements a place in the part-time school, so that we not only fill your head with knowledge. We want spiritual growth, change and especially imitation of Jesus. That is our passion! Learn more about thePart-time Royal Mission School .
