New addition!

We are currently busy working during the week (all sorts of things) and we have been away for the last 2 weekends. That’s why I hadn’t gotten around to writing a piece about the extruder we bought yet!

Two weeks ago I went to Hungary to view an extruder there. An extruder is the machine that makes a plate from granulate (our raw material, plastic granules). This is the first operation in the process of creating a yogurt cup or other packaging.

The great thing is that the extruder I found was built 30 years ago by MEAF. For those who read our blog more often; this is the same manufacturer as the machines from Romania that I recently visited. And that in a market with dozens of manufacturers worldwide…

Now that in itself is nothing more than a nice coincidence. Were it not for the fact that we had agreed with MEAF that they would help us check the extruder that we were going to buy (that agreement had already been made earlier in connection with the other machines from Romania). This now becomes very easy because MEAF obviously knows this extruder well and they even still have the original drawings!

However, it gets even better… When I went to Hungary 2 weeks ago, someone from MEAF was supposed to come with me to inspect the machines. They had asked a former director who took early retirement a few years ago. And he turned out to be the right man. He developed and built this extruder 30 years ago and knew the machine inside and out! In short, I was with the right man…

When we arrived in Hungary, it quickly became apparent that we were dealing with a solid company that maintains its machines well. This extruder had now become too small for them, but they had invested heavily in the machine in recent years. These all turned out to be positive changes to modernize the machine. After some negotiations, Crown became the new owner!

The machine will soon be brought to the Netherlands so that we can check it completely at MEAF. Transport will not be a big problem either, one of our investors has a truck driven from Hungary to the Netherlands almost every week…

If there is such a thing as “coincidence” then it must mean that God “lets good things happen” to us 🙂
