The first weeks of 2011 are already over. Now that most people have resumed their work after the Christmas holidays, we have the opportunity to carry out our work at a slightly slower pace. Our Christmas ‘holiday’ was quite hectic and now that we have completed and completed a number of important matters, we can focus on less urgent matters. In addition, it was also high time for an update.
We already gave an estimate of our plans for 2011 in our newsletter. Now that we have had a number of conversations further, the plans are becoming more and more concrete. Of course, many things are not yet certain, but the planning is becoming more realistic. This means:
January – The Dutch fund that invests in Ethiopia is set up and legalized (all papers translated into English and stamped by various authorities). Next Monday we also have a meeting in which we will consult with potential investors.
February – When the fund is legalized we can go to Ethiopia. Here we will officially establish the company – CROWN Packaging & Plastics PLC. In addition, we will look for a suitable industrial hall in which we will start our production. We will also look around for a suitable home for ourselves. We can stay in the guesthouse where we stayed in Aug./Sept. also stayed, but having your own place is better. When we have our investment license (permit to start importing machines, etc.) we can return to the Netherlands.
March/April/May – Back in the Netherlands we can purchase the necessary machines. We are currently in contact with various suppliers and already have suitable machines in mind. It still depends on the extent to which the fund is filled before we can proceed with the purchase. As soon as these can be purchased, the machines can be shipped and we can fly to Ethiopia a few weeks later. This is a bit further away and it still depends on how quickly some things will proceed.
Last week we were able to complete our business plan, wonderful. In the meantime, we are working on setting up the fund and we are mainly concerned with new investors, suppliers, next Monday’s meeting and we are now working on some practical preparations. Next weekend we will go to Bremen for three days. We still hadn’t gotten around to spending Gerard’s birthday gift, so we still owe it 🙂 We’re going to enjoy that!
