Throughout the country, almost in every church, something is being done with teen or youth work. All different forms and methods are used to bring young people close to God. Everyone tries to make something beautiful out of it and yet we see many young people who turn their backs on God. The problem is not with the gospel, because it is always just as powerful. God is able to completely change any young person. Then what is the problem? Why do we often fail to raise teenagers and youth to be true disciples of Jesus? It turns out that it is not that difficult to bring young people together in a dazzling Christian event, but actual spiritual growth is something else. We regularly encounter youth workers who have become slaves to their programs to ‘please the young people’. It has to be cozy and fun, it has to be different from last week, … we have to do so much. Why is Jesus able to work with a group of young, wild men and deliver true disciples after three years? The fruit of His work is so strong that these disciples have started making new disciples themselves. And so the ball started rolling. Maybe this ball can start rolling again? The real mission for teen and youth ministry is discipleship. Imitation of Jesus and spiritual maturity. Spiritual babies growing up to become spiritual fathers and mothers. We actually do spiritual education programs and you as a youth worker are the best teaching material. Just as Jesus gave as an example. On Saturday February 11 we start a new cycle of teenage and youth worker days. Free training days in the country where we want to help hundreds of youth workers to embark on a movement of discipleship. We zoom in on relational youth work, in which programs are not the core. We start in Veenendaal and in May we go to Haarlem. you are very welcome to participate. We provide lunch, the handout + pen and want to take you on a ‘rediscovery of discipleship among young people’. Click here to register for Veenendaal. click here to register for Haarlem.
